Get in the bin!
I enjoy using Twitter. For the most part, I find myself able to engage in sensible discussions with most people from across the spectrum of footballing opinions. I don't keep myself in an echo chamber, only following people with views similar to mine. But, as with most forums, it has it's fair share of plebs. Morons. Idiots who you would cross the street to avoid.
Luckily, I find that these people are quite easy to identify on Twitter. Whether it be by their avi, or just something they say or a phrase they use, these people are not hard to spot. So, here are a few of the things that set off immediate warning signs to me on Twitter:
- Your avi is a mock up of Arteta as a member of the taliban or Hitler? Get in the bin!
- Using works like "Tetasexual", "Artetasexual" or "Tetaliban"? You're most likely a child who won't open themselves up to why people might support Arteta. Avoid!
- You're calling Arsenal "Assna"? You obviously don't respect the class and tradition of The Arsenal. Move on!
- Saliba or Guendouzi in your avi, "on loan Marseille fan" in your bio? Don't understand people who latch on to a player who's not at the club (even if temporarily), especially if they use it to further an agenda. Not worth engaging with!
- Replying to a comment with "ratio"? ok, two things: 1. What even is that? 2. You're clearly not interested in discussion, or even offering an opinion. Off you Pop!
- Saying things like "worra trophy" or "worra champions league"? If your only response to a fan enjoying a success for their club, however minor, is petty point scoring, I'm not really interested. Football is about finding enjoyment, so jog on.
There's probably more, and I may come back to this in the future and add some. But for now, these are certainly the main bug bears. Avoid them, and chances are we'll have a decent chat about The Arsenal, or the game in general at some point soon :)
