Fantasy Premier League week 7

 Week 6: 52

Total points: 344

When I posted my fantasy update and preview last week, I was late doing so and the team was not in bad shape. The majority of my players had played with not many points accrued and the few left I wasn't expecting to bank me a decent total.

But in a pleasant surprise, Bukayo Saka turned on the style against Tottenham, bagging a goal, assist and 3 sweet bonus points for a total of 13, making him my top scorer for the week. It wast the cherry on top of the icing on top of the delicious cake that was a wonderful North London Derby victory.

Outside of Saka, there were 10 points for the debuting Andros Townsend. I mentioned last week that I was expecting him to pick up some of the slack in the absence of Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin in the Everton line up and he duly delivered with a goal, clean sheet bonus and 2 bonus points.

The returning Michail Antonio also bagged respectably with 8 points. another goal for him and 3 bonus points, with a yellow card being the only taint on his score.

There were also clean sheets for Ruben Dias and Ederson (their fifth each of the season) with a yellow card for Dias dragging him down to five, with the goalkeeper getting another 6. This is the kind of consistency that you need in your team.

Elsewhere there were two points each for Tierney, Wan-Bissaka, Ings, Soucek and Lukaku. not a great return from those guys.

The big disappointment of course was again with my captain pick. Sticking with Bruno Fernandes, I was hopeful of a positive output. Instead, I got a missed penalty to erase his mighty two point haul. The lengthy Twitter apology didn't quite make up for it, even if it was cringingly hilarious.

On to this week, and I have made use of my two free transfers. I've got rid of Bruno and Wan-Bissaka to free up the funds to enable me to bring in Mo Salah. The defensive hole is filled by Ben Mee who has a favourable tie at home to struggling Norwich. Andros Townsend drops to the bench with his tricky trip to Old Trafford, and Ferran Torres drops to the bench after a couple of barren weeks.

The captains armband goes to Romelu Lukaku this week. He has a run of easier fixtures starting this week at home to Southampton. I expect him to start filling his boots a bit from here on out, so it is likely the armband stays with him, although with Salah in the line up there is scope to change this, The rest of the team remains the same.

The team has dropped below the target average of 60 for two weeks in a row now. Here's hoping that they get back on track in week 7. We'll check in again next week.
